Day 1: Chiang Mai
Pick up in the morning from the airport or hotel. First visit Wat Prathat Doi Suthep mountain temple, the holy pilgrim site of Chiang Mai and enjoy the views of the city. Continue your trip through the northern capital and the old part of the town and visit one of the ancient city temple. In the afternoon have a look to some local handicraft centers, such as the famous umbrella making, lacquer ware, silverware, woodcarving etc. (visit just the ones in which you are interested).
Day 2: Chiang Mai
Full day tour to Doi Inthanon National Park (Thailand's highest peak, 2565 m). Enjoy nice mountain sceneries from the two royal pagodas on the peak, see picturesque waterfalls, such as Mae Ya or Vachirathan. Visit at a Karen and Hmong hill tribe village as well.. On the way back to Chiang Mai, take side trip to Lamphun province and stop at one of the most beautiful temples in Thailand, Wat Haripunchai. You will be back in Chiang Mai late afternoon.
Day 3: Chiang Mai
Early morning heading for an elephant camp outside of Chiang Mai to observe elephants taking their morning bath. Then enjoy a 1 hour elephant safari through the forest. An ox cart will bring you back to the camp. After lunch take a lazy trip down the river on a bamboo raft. Then drive back to Chiang Mai with a short stop on the way at an orchid farm. End of the tour. Transfer to the hotel or airport, depending on your further itinerary.
