CNX 104 - HUAI KHUM VILLAGE - 3 days/2 nights

he highlights of this package are the wilderness of the Doi Angkhang mountain range, but even more the valley of the Mae Kok River, which flows through the provinces of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. You will spend both nights at a simple, but very beautiful and unique resort. The Huai Khum Resort is built with bamboo and is located in middle of the picturesque mountain wilderness on the banks of the Kok River. Enjoy the beautiful nature while taking some walks along the river and visit some nearby villages. Next to the resort is a Lahu hill tribe village. But it is also an ideal place just to realx, for axample at the swimming pool next to the river. Here you will not always get the usual and modern hotel comfort, but very friendly people and be very close to nature.
Daily departure from Chiang Mai, minimum 2 persons

DAY 1 CHIANG MAI - HUAI KHUM

In the morning pick up from your hotel or at the airport. Tour starts to northern direction till Chiang Dao. On route short stops possible at an orchid farm, an elephant camp and a local countryside market. Then a backroad will bring you through the mountain wilderness along the Burmese border. Enjoy some very nice sceneries and idylic mountain villages along the way. Finally you will reach the hill top station of Doi Angkhang. It's also the location of a royal project, who's goal is to support the poor farmers in the lowland, as well as some hill tribe villages. Later you will visit one of the rare Palong hill tribe villages along the border. Go on and descend down to the Fang Valley and reach the banks of the Kok River. A short boat trip will bring you to Huai Khum village. Overnight.

DAY 2 HUAI KHUM

In the morning you visit some sights in the Thaton area. First you see one of the traditional rice mills and then a remote Lahu hill tribe village, where we will take a look in to the typical and simple school of a hill tribe village. Here the kids are still very happy to get just small gifts like pens, candies etc. Go on to Wat Thaton with its giant Buddha images on a small hill. This place offers great views to the Mae Kok Valley and the Burmese mountain wilderness. Lunch at a nice riverside resort. On the way back to Huai Khum have a visit to an orange plantation. In the afternoon some time at leisure. Take a walk along the river to the Lahu village or even further. Realaxing at the pool is another possibility.

DAY 3 HUAI KHUM - CHIANG RAI / CHIANG MAI

In the morning you will board the longtail boat for an interesting and approx. 1 hour ride down the river. Short stops at another Lahu village and at the hot springs. Then you will reach a small elephant camp. An optional approx. 1,5 hour ride on one of these giants to a small waterfall can be arranged. After lunch drive back to Chiang Mai with some stops on route. Transfer to the hotel or airport. End of the tour also possible in Chiang Rai incl. transfer to the hotel or airport.
